The delegation, led by INTA Chair, Mr Bernd Lange, and the Standing Rapporteur, Mrs Inmaculada Rodríguez-Piñero Fernández (S&D, ES), travelled to Chile to meet a number of key government figures including VM Foreign Affairs and Ministers in charge of economy, agriculture, mining, environment, labour and gender. They also had exchanges with Chilean legislators, civil society organisations, representatives of the industry and indigenous people.

The INTA delegation was aimed at gathering field information on the implementation of the trade provisions of the existing Association Agreement (AA) with Chile; exchanging views with key interlocutors to better understand the objectives and constraints of each negotiating party in the context of the ongoing negotiations for the modernisation of the AA; following up on INTA's 3 resolutions on Chile adopted in Plenary on 14/12/2017; learning more about the economic structure and productive patterns in Chile.
