Utfrågningar


Ett utskott får anordna utfrågningar med sakkunniga om en sådan utfrågning är nödvändig för dess arbete i ett visst ärende. Utfrågningar kan även anordnas gemensamt av två eller flera utskott. De flesta utskott anordnar regelbundna utfrågningar eftersom utfrågningarna gör det möjligt för utskotten att lyssna till sakkunniga och anordna diskussioner om viktiga ämnen. Harmonisation as principle for the single market legislation

Two panels discussed the actual benefits of the harmonisation of national rules and the possible future framework for harmonisation in the EU Single Market. Business and consumer representatives together with policy making representatives from the EU Council and the European Commission delved into the issues of reducing regulatory obstacles, bringing transparency for consumers, attracting investments and competing at global level through harmonisation. On 12 July IMCO held a public hearing on the implementation of the Late Payment Directive. The first panel examined business-to-business (B2B) transactions, featuring speakers representing business associations. The second panel focused on public authorities-to-businesses transactions (P2B), with speakers concentrating on problems reported on the ground and on measures that could be employed by public administrations to tackle this issue. Members, and experts discussed on better enforcement and modernisation of EU consumer protection rules. The hearing will be organised in 2 panel discussions with invited experts. The first panel of experts will exchange views on "Tackling administrative and regulatory barriers in the Services market" with a focus on whether there is a case for the Services e-card, whether COM proposal is the appropriate measure to tackle persisting problems, and whether it will lower the existing barriers. On 20 June ITRE and CULT held the hearing of Commissioner-designate Gabriel, who was nominated by the European Commission to take over the responsibility for the Digital Economy and Society portfolio. Associated Committees were IMCO, JURI and LIBE. ITRE and CULT Coordinators then met on Wednesday 21 June to assess the hearing so that Mr Buzek, ITRE Chair, and Ms Kammerevert, CULT Chair, could inform the President of Parliament in view of a decision during the July plenary.
