Meeting of 3 July 2023, in Brussels

The meeting of the Delegation was organised as part of the Democracy Support and Electoral Coordination Group (DEG) study visit for a delegation of 20 Moldovan MPs, including Speaker Grosu, in Brussels. The meeting was devoted to an exchange of views with Speaker Grosu, in presence of the 20 MPs and focused on the reforms undertaken by the Moldovan authorities to meet the nine conditions set out in the Commission's opinion and the Commission's oral update of 22 June 2023.

Meeting of 2 March 2022, in Brussels

The meeting was devoted to the preparation of the 13th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee on 23 March in Brussels and focused on the security situation in Moldova and on the newly appointed government and its programme of reforms, as well as the progress made regarding the 9 conditions set out in the Commission's opinion. The guest speakers were Ms MORARI, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, Ms MODORAN, Team Leader for Moldova and Georgia (EEAS), Mr AUDAZ, Team Leader for the Economic Development Sector in the Unit for Georgia, Moldova, Economic Investment Plan (DG NEAR) and Mr Torsten WOELLERT, Minister Counsellor - Energy to the EU Delegation to Ukraine (EEAS).

Meeting of 13 October 2022, in Brussels

The meeting was dedicated to the preparation of the 12th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee in Chisinau on 1-2 November and tackled the issues of Moldova's reforms in the context of EU accession and the energy situation. The Delegation also elected Mr ROPÉ (Greens/EFA, LT) as first Vice-Chair of the Delegation by acclamation, replacing MEP Tatjana ŽDANOKA (Greens/EFA, LV). The main speakers were Mr BOROSAN, State Secretary for Energy of the Republic of Moldova, Ambassador MORARI, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the EU Ms DLOUCHY, Acting Head of Division for Eastern Partnership Bilateral Relations (EEAS), Ms JABLONSKA, Head of Unit for Georgia, Moldova, Economic Investment Plan (DG NEAR), Mr Torsten WOELLERT, Minister Counsellor - Energy to the EU Delegation to Ukraine (EEAS).

Meeting of 24 March 2022, in Brussels

The meeting aimed at preparing the 11th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee in Strasbourg on 6-7 April in the context of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and its impact on Moldova, as well as Moldova's application for EU membership. It concluded that the Delegation should encourage a sense of ambition by adopting a PAC statement that would call for EU institutions to grant Moldova EU candidate status. The guest speakers were Mr TIBBELS, Head of Division for Bilateral Relations with Eastern Partnership countries European External Action Service, Mr MEREDITH, Director for the Neighbourhood East & Institution Building (DG NEAR) and Mr TASCHNER, Head of Unit Migration Management Preparedness (DG ECHO).

Meeting of 20 January 2022, in Strasbourg

The meeting was devoted to a debriefing on the recent D-MD mission to Chişinău (30 November - 2 December 2021) and the 10th meeting of the EU-Moldova PAC, to an exchange of views among D-MD members on possible ways to enhance sectoral cooperation between the European Parliament and the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and to a discussion with the Chair of DEPA on the 'Association Trio' format.

Meeting of 28 September 2021 (semi-remote)


The meeting was devoted to an exchange of views on the latest political developments in Moldova, and a presentation of the new Moldovan government's reforms programme and foreign policy priorities by Ms Natalia GAVRILIŢA, Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, and Mr Nicu POPESCU, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

Meeting of 17 June 2021 via video-conference

The meeting was devoted to Moldova's resilience vis-a-vis disinformation and foreign interference, a very timely topic of discussion a few weeks before parliamentary elections in Moldova which were described as 'historic'. Moldovan political landscape is very polarised and the country is an easy target of malign foreign disinformation campaigns. The Special Committee for foreign interference in all democratic processes in the EU (INGE) was associated to the meeting and its Members provided added value to the debate. The guest speakers were Ms Corina Cepoi, Chisinau office of the international non-profit organisation 'internews' and Mr Lutz Guellner, EEAS Head of Division, Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) 2.

Meeting of 4 February 2021, via video-conference

The meeting focused on the economic situation in Moldova following the COVID-19 crisis and included an exchange of views with Mr Adrian LUPUSOR, Executive Director of the analytical centre and think-tank 'Expert-Grup', Chisinau, Moldova, Mr Richard TIBBELS, Head of Division for Bilateral Relations with Eastern Partnership countries European External Action Service (EEAS) and Mr Mathieu BOUSQUET, Head of Unit for Moldova, Georgia and EaP institutional building, European Commission, DG NEAR.

Constituent meeting on 26 September 2019 in Brussels

During the D-MD constituent meeting on 26 September 2019, the members of the Delegation's Bureau were elected by acclamation.

  • Chair: Mr Siegfried MUREŞAN (PPE, Romania)
  • 1st Vice-Chair: Mrs Tatjana ŽDANOKA (Verts/ALE, Latvia); and
  • 2nd Vice-Chair: Mrs Ramona STRUGARIU (Renew, Romania)

It was also the occasion, for the Members, to exchange views on the linguistic profile of the Delegation.
