The Delegation for relations with Afghanistan held an exchange of views on the Deterioration of women's rights and safety in Afghanistan under Taliban rule with the speakers
- Marzia Amiri, teacher and founder of the largest network of underground home schools in Afghanistan and
- Maria Bashir, Former Prosecutor General of Herat Province, Afghanistan.
The meeting took place in the framework of the 4th European Gender Equality week in association with the DROI Subcommittee on 26 October 2023, 11.30 - 13.00 in room: Spinelli 1E2

Meeting of 25 October 2022 (in association with AFET)
Hearing on Afghanistan: regional impact after Taliban takeover
On 25 October 2022 at 10:30-12:30 the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) in association with the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan (D-AF) held a hearing on 'Afghanistan: regional impact after Taliban takeover'. The hearing aimed to examine EU policy towards Afghanistan in light of different positions taken by neighbouring countries towards Afghanistan and their cooperation with the de facto government. It also looked at the developments as regards the position of women and how their rights can be ensured.
