EU-USSR Trade and Cooperation Agreement, endorsed by Belarus
A Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Belarus was signed on 6 March 1995. However, in response to Belarus' lack of commitment to democracy and political and civil rights, the ratification of this agreement by EU member states has been suspended since 1997.
Bilateral trade and economic relations therefore remain covered by the 1989 Trade and Cooperation Agreement concluded by the European Community with the Soviet Union and subsequently endorsed by Belarus.
