Ireland North West MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher is to lead a high level delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Fisheries to Ireland from 13-14 February. On 11 February, a delegation of MEPs from the European Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) will visit Dublin for two days during which they will hold a series of meetings with Ministers, Members of the Dail, Government Departments and NGOs. The delegation will be led by French MEP and chair of the EMPL committee, Mme Pervenche Berès, S&D.

An interparliamentary meeting between members of the national parliaments and members of the European Parliament (EP) was held in Dublin on 27-28 January, under the auspices of the Irish Presidency. The national parliaments were represented by the chairs of their European Affairs Committees while the EP was represented by Vice President Miguel Angel Martínez Martínez and the chair of the EP Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Carlo Casini. Key subjects for discussion included policy priorities of the Irish Presidency and the future of economic and monetary union, as well as the issue of democratic accountability.

To mark the beginning of the Irish Presidency, Jim Higgins, MEP organised an evening of Irish literature with John Banville, winner of the Booker Prize (for "The Sea) and the Franz Kafka Prize at the Library of the European Parliament in Brussels, 18.30 on 22 January 2013.
