Euroscola Video Clip Competition Winners
In this year’s Euroscola competition we asked students to create a one-minute video clip on “My EU Election Campaign”.
Students were asked to take their inspiration from the big democratic advances of 1918, when women in Ireland won the right to vote, and for the first time a woman was elected to both Dáil Éireann and the House of Commons. Standing as a candidate in the next EU Elections students were asked to describe the issues most important to them.
The video clips were assessed by an independent judging panel, chaired by the Head of the European Parliament Office in Ireland.
As always, the judges were faced with difficult decisions as the submissions were of a very high standard and they expressed their delight at the huge interest shown by students across the country. In light of the European Elections in 2019 it is very encouraging to see so many young people engaged and participating.
One winning school was selected from each of Ireland's three European constituencies, along with a runner-up prize in each constituency.
The winning students will travel to the European Parliament in Strasbourg and experience a day as an MEP. They will join their peers from across Europe engaging in the EU decision-making process through debates, negotiations with their colleagues, voting and adopting resolutions on topical European issues.
Keep an eye on our Facebook Page where we will post some of the videos that came close to winning and were highly commended by the judges. You might also want to follow our dedicated Education handle on Twitter @EPIreland_Edu where we will also be posting your entries over the coming weeks.
