Alex Agius Saliba – Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D)

Alex Agius Saliba was elected Member of the European Parliament for the first time in the 2019 European elections.

A lawyer by profession, he specialises in European law and has been involved in Maltese politics since the age of 17 with his early beginnings as general secretary of the Pulse student organisation.

Later on, he became general secretary and president of the Labour Youth Forum and joined the executive of the Labour Party.

He was also journalist with ONE News between 2008 and 2013 and held a legal consultant role for various ministries before going into his private legal practice.

Mr Saliba has been appointed a member of the following committees in the European Parliament:

- Committee on Petitions (Member)

David Casa – Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats/EPP)

David Casa is Malta’s longest-serving Member of the European Parliament and the first MEP to ever be appointed Quaestor for the 9th legislature.

He secured a seat in Strasbourg for the fourth consecutive parliamentary term after having recently worked on the directive for work-life balance, which has now been signed into EU law.

Josianne Cutajar – Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D)

Josianne Cutajar is the first Gozitan Member of the European Parliament, as well as Malta's youngest ever MEP to be elected. She won a seat in Strasbourg at the 2019 European elections.

Dr Cutajar has held the position of Nadur councillor and has worked within the Labour Party's women’s wing Nisa Laburisti. She was a legal coordinator for the Office of the Prime Minister and a director for Gozo Channel.

Dr Cutajar has been appointed a member of the following committees in the European Parliament:

Miriam Dalli – Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D)

Miriam Dalli is a former ONE journalist who was first elected a Member of the European Parliament in 2014.

She has since focused on drafting legislation related to curbing vehicle emissions and providing relief packages to member states to handle irregular migration.

Dr Dalli was named Malta’s most influential MEP by VoteWatch, with Politico naming her one of 28 people most likely to leave their mark in 2019. She is also Vice-President of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D) as of the start of the new parliamentary term.

Roberta Metsola – Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats/EPP)

 .

Roberta Metsola is a lawyer by profession and worked in Brussels with Malta’s permanent representation to the EU before joining the European Parliament in 2013 to fill a seat vacated by Simon Busuttil through a casual election.

She was elected to a full term as Member of the European Parliament a year later, in 2014.

She has previously worked on legislation aimed at reducing the use of single-use plastic and strengthening aid for border control within the EU. In 2019, she was ranked one of the most active MEPs within Parliament and has now assumed the role of coordinator for the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats/EPP) for this legislature.

Alfred Sant – Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D)

Alfred Sant first entered the European Parliament in 2014 after serving as Maltese prime minister and Labour Party leader.

In 2019 he was re-elected as Member of the European Parliament after having focused his efforts on EU economic and monetary affairs in Strasbourg.

Dr Sant has been appointed a member of the following committees in the European Parliament:
