Reform of the European Ombudsman's Statute

During the June II plenary session, the European Parliament is due to adopt a new European Parliament regulation governing the performance of the Ombudsman's duties (Statute of the European Ombudsman) to replace the existing statute, adopted in 2008. This follows a debate on the new text during the June I session and subsequent consent to the draft from the Council. State of the SMEs Union

During the June I 2021 plenary session, Parliament is due to hold a joint debate on the 'State of the SMEs Union' and on efforts to reduce the administrative burden on micro-, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), in the context of the recently updated Better Regulation agenda.

Throughout the EU, millions of animals are reared in cages, in conditions that seriously harm their welfare. A European Citizens' Initiative, 'End the Cage Age', calls on the European Commission to end the practice of keeping animals in cages and to propose legislation to prohibit their use. In response to this initiative, the European Parliament is expected to hold a debate on the subject and vote a resolution during its June I plenary session.
