PANA-Untersuchungsausschuss
Im Juni 2016 hat das Parlament einen Untersuchungsausschuss zur Prüfung von behaupteten Verstößen gegen das Unionsrecht und Missständen bei der Anwendung desselben im Zusammenhang mit Geldwäsche, Steuervermeidung und Steuerhinterziehung (PANA-Untersuchungsausschuss) eingesetzt. Der Bericht und die Empfehlungen des Ausschusses, die auf der Plenartagung des Parlaments im Dezember zur Verabschiedung vorgelegt werden, ebnen nunmehr den Weg für eine weitere Überwachung und Folgemaßnahmen.
Disinformation, 'fake news' and the EU's response
The impact of the online spread of mis- and disinformation – including false news posing as factual stories – became increasingly visible in the context of the crisis in Ukraine, and gained notoriety as a global challenge during the 2016 United States presidential election campaign. Ahead of the European elections in 2019, the EU is now stepping up its efforts to tackle 'fake news'. This is a further updated version of an 'at a glance' note published in April 2017: PE 599.384.
Verordnung über die Zusammenarbeit im Verbraucherschutz
Die Kommission hat die Überarbeitung der Verordnung über die Zusammenarbeit im Verbraucherschutz („CPC-Verordnung“) vorgeschlagen, um ihren Anwendungsbereich auszuweiten und die Befugnisse der nationalen Behörden zu stärken, die bei grenzübergreifenden Verstößen gegen das EU-Verbraucherrecht zusammenarbeiten. Drei Runden von Trilogverhandlungen ergaben im Juni 2017 eine vorläufige Einigung, und nun wird eine Abstimmung in erster Lesung im November im Plenum erwartet.
Schutz von Hinweisgebern auf EU-Ebene
Im Oktober soll das Europäische Parlament einen Initiativbericht zu legitimen Maßnahmen zum Schutz interner Hinweisgeber erörtern. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass Hinweisgeber eine unverzichtbare Quelle bei der Offenlegung von Schaden für das öffentliche Interesse sind. In dem Bericht wird die Kommission aufgefordert, einen Vorschlag für horizontale Rechtsvorschriften vorzulegen, um Hinweisgeber wirksam in der EU zu schützen.
