This briefing note covers the main elements of the 2020 European Semester Package proposed by the Commission. It gives an overview of the implementation of the previous Semester Cycles and of the on-going work to strengthen the governance and the resilience of Economic and Monetary Union. This note presents its main features as available in the public domain and discusses the steps leading to the Eurogroup October 2019 agreement, addressing namely its connection with the European Semester and the more general framework of economic policy coordination. This note will be updated on the basis of further available information.
