ES atsakomybė sporto srityje gana nauja ir buvo įgyta tik 2009 m. gruodžio mėn., kai įsigaliojo Lisabonos sutartis. ES yra atsakinga už įrodymais pagrįstos politikos rengimą ir bendradarbiavimo puoselėjimą bei fizinio aktyvumo ir sporto rėmimo iniciatyvų visoje Europoje valdymą. 2014–2020 m. laikotarpiu pirmą kartą pagal programą „Erasmus+“ buvo sukurta speciali biudžeto eilutė su sportu susijusiems projektams ir tinklams remti.

Europos Sąjungos veikla kultūros srityje papildo valstybių narių įgyvendinamą įvairių sričių kultūros politiką, pvz., apimančią Europos kultūros paveldo išsaugojimą, įvairių šalių kultūros institucijų bendradarbiavimą ir kūrybos darbuotojų judumo skatinimą. Kultūros sektoriui aktualios ir tos Sutarčių nuostatos, kurios, kaip pasirodytų iš pirmo žvilgsnio, su ja nėra susijusios.

ES audiovizualinė politika reglamentuojama Sutarties dėl Europos Sąjungos veikimo (SESV) 167 ir 173 straipsniais. Svarbiausias šios srities teisės aktas yra 2018 m. peržiūrėta Audiovizualinės žiniasklaidos paslaugų direktyva. Pagrindinė ES pagalbos šiam sektoriui (ypač kino pramonei) priemonė yra programos „Kūrybiška Europa“ paprogramė MEDIA. Į Europos Sąjungos pagrindinių teisių chartiją įtrauktos nuostatos dėl pagarbos žiniasklaidos laisvei ir pliuralizmui.

Veiksmingos komunikacijos būtinybė turi teisinį pagrindą Europos Sąjungos pagrindinių teisių chartijoje (toliau – Chartija) – šiame dokumente visiems piliečiams užtikrinama teisė gauti informaciją apie ES reikalus. Cultural and creative sectors (CCS) have been hit hard by the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study analyses the so far effects of the crisis on the CCS, as well as the policy responses that are formulated to support the sectors.
