W lipcu 2020 r. Komisja przyjęła strategie dotyczące wodoru i integracji systemu energetycznego. W obu dokumentach strategicznych przedstawiono środki na rzecz przejścia na neutralny dla klimatu system energetyczny i gospodarkę w ramach Europejskiego Zielonego Ładu. Komisja Przemysłu, Badań Naukowych i Energii przyjęła sprawozdania z własnej inicjatywy w sprawie tych dwóch strategii, nad którymi Parlament Europejski ma głosować podczas majowej sesji plenarnej.

W dniu 8 listopada 2017 r. Komisja Europejska przyjęła pakiet mobilności ekologicznej, obejmujący wnioski ustawodawcze, które mają umożliwić szybsze przejście na pojazdy niskoemisyjne i bezemisyjne, a także komunikat w sprawie planu działania zawierającego rozwiązania inwestycyjne dotyczące transeuropejskiego rozwoju infrastruktury paliw alternatywnych.
