This introductory briefing paper introduce five key messages on how the Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and Creative Europe (CE) programmes (and the proposals for successor programmes) address environmental challenges.

W ramach działań podejmowanych na rzecz promowania mobilności i międzykulturowego zrozumienia UE wskazała naukę języków jako ważny priorytet i finansuje liczne programy i projekty w tym obszarze. Zdaniem UE wielojęzyczność stanowi istotny element europejskiej konkurencyjności. Dlatego też jednym z celów polityki językowej UE jest opanowanie przez każdego obywatela europejskiego, oprócz języka ojczystego, dwóch języków obcych.

Polityka dotycząca młodzieży jest domeną polityki krajowej. Wykluczona jest zatem harmonizacja ustawodawstw państw członkowskich w tym obszarze. Na szczeblu europejskim polityka dotycząca młodzieży podlega zwykłej procedurze ustawodawczej. Część programu Erasmus+ poświęcona młodzieży wspiera wymianę młodych ludzi zarówno wewnątrz UE, jak i z państwami trzecimi.

Whilst commonly understood, "youth" is a difficult concept to define from a policy-making perspective. Nevertheless in the eyes of national governments and European leaders, youth policy has grown increasingly important in recent years.
