Šport je oblasť, v ktorej sú právomoci EÚ pomerne nové. EÚ ich získala až nadobudnutím platnosti Lisabonskej zmluvy v decembri 2009. EÚ je zodpovedná za tvorbu politiky založenej na dôkazoch a za posilňovanie spolupráce a riadenie iniciatív na podporu športu a fyzickej aktivity v celej Európe. Na podporu projektov a sietí v oblasti športu bol po prvýkrát vytvorený osobitný rozpočtový riadok v rámci programu Erasmus+ (2014 – 2020).

Činnosti Európskej únie v oblasti kultúry dopĺňajú kultúrne politiky členských štátov v rôznych oblastiach, ako je napríklad ochrana európskeho kultúrneho dedičstva, spolupráca medzi kultúrnymi inštitúciami rôznych krajín a podpora mobility kreatívnych pracovníkov. Kultúrny priemysel je zahrnutý aj do ustanovení zmlúv, ktoré sa kultúry priamo netýkajú.

Audiovizuálnu politiku v EÚ upravujú články 167 a 173 Zmluvy o fungovaní Európskej únie (ZFEÚ). Kľúčovou súčasťou právnych predpisov v tejto oblasti je smernica o audiovizuálnych mediálnych službách, ktorá bola revidovaná v roku 2018. Hlavným nástrojom EÚ na podporu tohto odvetvia (predovšetkým filmového priemyslu) je podprogram MEDIA, ktorý je súčasťou programu Kreatívna Európa. V Charte základných práv Európskej únie sa požaduje rešpektovanie „slobody a plurality médií“.

Potreba efektívnej komunikácie má právny základ v Charte základných práv Európskej únie (charta), ktorá zaručuje právo všetkých občanov na informácie o otázkach EÚ. Inštitúcie EÚ vytvorili viacero nástrojov a služieb, ktoré im umožňujú udržiavať kontakt s verejnosťou a informovať ju. Európska iniciatíva občanov od svojho formálneho začiatku v roku 2012 umožňuje priamejšie zapájanie občanov do tvorby nových právnych predpisov a otázok EÚ.

Cultural and creative sectors (CCS) have been hit hard by the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study analyses the so far effects of the crisis on the CCS, as well as the policy responses that are formulated to support the sectors. Based on the analysis, policy recommendations are formulated to further improve the resilience of the CCS in Europe in the medium and longer term.
