15-05-2008
This briefing paper introduces the bioeconomic modelling and analysis, and focuses on the economics of marine ecosystem use and marine protected areas (MPAs) as a management tool. The description is based on simple graphical models and examples from mainly North-east Atlantic fisheries, though with references to studies based on mathematical and statistical modelling. Fisheries economic theory includes positive as well as normative elements. This brief includes discussion on both positive and normative theories and models.
