DG Communication is continuously monitoring public opinion by conducting regular Eurobarometer surveys in all 27 EU Member States. This newsletter aims at providing general public with the Eurobarometer and other recent surveys data on key topics of this week’s plenary agenda.

For the May plenary session, relevant survey data is available on:

  • 70th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration
  • Conclusions of the extraordinary European Council of  23 April 2020

  • Emergency legislation in Hungary and its impact on the Rule of Law and fundamental rights

The Eurobarometer surveys cover a wide range of issues. Parliament’s surveys focus primarily on the citizens’ perceptions of the European Parliament and the EU as well as Europe’s main policy challenges. Together with the Eurobarometer surveys conducted by the European Commission, the data available allows for a detailed into citizens’ views on the EU.
