Media Freedom, Freedom of Expression and Combatting hate speech online and offline

On 6 November 2019, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) hel a public hearing on “Media Freedom, Freedom of Expression and Combatting hate speech online and offline”.

The hearing was structured in two parts, a first part dedicated to media freedom, freedom of expression and the protection of investigative journalists with the participation of representatives of the Council of Europe, Reporters without Borders and investigative journalists. The second panel focused on combating hate speech (online and offline) and disinformation, with the participation of NGO representatives and think tanks working on these issues.
