Conference: training SMEs Consumer Law - EP pilot project: taking stock and follow up
Of the 22 million companies operating in the EU today, 99.8% are small and medium-sized enterprises. Helping them to comply with the latest consumer legislation contributes to a more vibrant Single Market, both for consumers and businesses alike. BEUC, EUROCHAMBRES, SMEunited, the European Parliament and the European Commission are jointly organising a conference to discuss how to best support SMEs and what the challenges and opportunities are in e-commerce.

Fifthteen meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market
Under the title: How can we fight against the fake-news phenomenon to have a Digital Single Market based on trust? MEPs, Representatives of the European Commission and Participants will discuss on the challenges and opportunities of this proposal at the 15th meeting of the working group on 19 March. Reliable sources of information are key to well-functioning Digital Single Market - misinformation or fake-news have direct effects on consumers behaviour and the decisions they make on the market.

Fourteen meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market
On 22 November took place the 14th Meeting of the IMCO WG on the DSM under the title "Accommodation and transport services and the Digital Single Market: how to ensure consumer choice and fair competition". The Digital Revolution and the sharing economy have brought different challenges in the online accommodation & transport services. It will be a discussion about how to guarantee the freedom to provide services, the existence of free and fair competition, and the protection of consumers.

Twelfth meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market
On 26 June took place the twelfth meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market. Under the title: "Online services providers and the limited liability regime of the e-commerce Directive", the aim of the meeting was to assess on whether there is or not a need to make any reform or clarification on the "Notice- and-Action" procedures in the e-commerce Directive (Directive 2000/31), or to clarify the rules affecting internet services providers.

Eleventh Meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market
On 22 March took place the Eleventh Meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market. Under the title: "Online Platforms: How to adapt regulatory framework to the digital age?", the meeting was dedicated to a discussion with the academic community on how to make sure that the regulatory environment around online platforms is fit for purpose. The meeting inaugurates the 2017' cycle of sessions. Other 4 meetings with take place before the end of the year.

Tenth meeting of the IMCO working group on Digital Single Market
The IMCO Working Group on Digital Single Market held its tenth meeting on 14.11.16. The aim was to assess different aspects of the EC proposal on Geo-Blocking in the EU. MEPs debated with independents experts on the interplay of the proposal with the Rome 1 Regulation, on the EU measures prohibiting geo-blocking in sectors outside of the Services Directive, and on the economic impact of a potential extension of the scope to the non audiovisual copyrighted content services.

Ninth Meeting of the IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market
The IMCO Working Group on Digital Single Market held its ninth meeting on 12 October. The aim of the meeting was to assess the new Commission proposals on Telecoms and their impact for European consumers and the Internal Market. Questions such as the benefits -and possible concerns- for consumers in the new proposals, the nature of the future universal services regime, the appropriate sector-specific rules are in order to protect end-users adequately and others were discussed.

Eight Meeting of the IMCO Working Group on Digital Single Market
The IMCO Working Group on Digital Single Market held its eight meeting on 20.06.16. The aim was to assess the general direction and policy options chosen by the Commission in order to boost e-commerce and combat consumer discrimination in the EU, in particular those concerning geoblocking, cross-border parcel delivery, consumer protection cooperation and portability of digital content. The meeting counted with the participation of stakeholders and representatives from the EC.

Seventh Meeting of the IMCO Working Group on Digital Single Market
