The next ENVI Committee meetings will take place on Thursday, 2 July, between 9:00-11:00.

The calendar of committee meeting dates during the COVID-19 period had to be adapted. The forthcoming confirmed committee meeting is the following:

Monday, 6 July, 13:45-15:45,

Tuesday, 7 July, 9:00-11:00,

Monday, 13 July, 12:00-12:30 (opening of the votes only) and 16:45 - 18:45

Thursday, 16 July, 9:00 - 11:00.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the European Parliament to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities.

As it is customary at the beginning of each new Council presidency, the ENVI members will be holding an exchange of views in committee with the relevant German ministers to discuss the priorities of the presidency. On Monday 6 July, they will exchange with Jens Spahn, Minister of Health of German and on Tuesday 7 July, they will hear from Svenja Schulze, Minister of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

On 6 and 7 July, the ENVI committee will be voting on a draft report on the EU’s role in protecting and restoring the world’s forests.

On 7 July, ENVI Members will discuss the draft Report on the EU4Health Programme, following the Commission’s proposal, published on 28 May 2020, for a new stand-alone EU4Health Programme for 2021-2027 as part of the Recovery Plan to build resilient health systems in the EU.

ENVI has invited Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), for an exchange of views with Members on the fight against COVID-19 and the global response to it.
