The development and distribution of an effective and safe vaccine against the coronavirus will provide a lasting solution to the pandemic.
On 22 June, the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides presented to the ENVI Committee the European Strategy to accelerate the development, manufacture and deployment of vaccines against COVID-19, as published on 17 June. During the ensuing debate, Members got an opportunity to raise the various challenges involved in getting a vaccine ready for the EU citizens and the rest of the world.
