Ακροάσεις

Oι επιτροπές μπορούν να διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις με τη συμμετοχή εμπειρογνωμόνων, όταν αυτό κρίνεται ουσιώδους σημασίας για το έργο τους επί ενός συγκεκριμένου θέματος. Οι ακροάσεις μπορούν να διοργανώνονται από κοινού, από δύο ή περισσότερες επιτροπές. Οι περισσότερες επιτροπές διοργανώνουν ακροάσεις τακτικά, εφόσον αυτό τους επιτρέπει να ενημερώνονται για τις απόψεις εμπειρογνωμόνων και να συζητούν μαζί τους για τα σημαντικότερα θέματα. AFCO JURI LIBE PETI

On 29 October 2020, a hearing on Union Citizenship will be jointly organised by the European Parliament (JURI, LIBE, AFCO and PETI Committees) and the European Commission. The hearing will see a keynote speech by Mr. Didier Reynders, Commissioner for Justice and the participation of Ms. Emily O’Reilly, the European Ombudsman, as well as representatives from various NGOs.

The Special Committee on Beating Cancer of the European Parliament (BECA), in association with the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) is organising a hearing on “Beating Breast Cancer: Challenges and opportunities” on Tuesday 27 October 2020 from 13.45 to 14.30, with remote participation.

The scope of the hearing is to identify concrete steps and relevant tools on how to achieve, under the current fishing regime, a recovery of endangered stocks, while safeguarding stock productivity and fleet profitability.

INTA

On 12 October, the 5th INTA 'Trade Policy Day' is dedicated to a renewed EU trade policy after the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive Vice-President and new trade commissioner, V. Dombrovskis, will give a keynote speech. Then, Prof. Felbermayr, Kiel Institute, and Prof. Shapiro, UC Berkeley, will set the scene for a panel discussion on "what do stakeholders expect from Europe" featuring DG Trade’s Director General, Sabine Weyand, and representatives of EUROCHAMBRES, CLIENTEARTH and AMFORI.

ENVI

On Monday 12 October 2020, from 13.45 to 15.40, the ENVI held a public hearing on “Prospects and Perils for the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety in the Future EU-UK Relationship”. Committee Members heard from academic, NGO and industry experts about possible divergences between EU and UK standards in the areas of the environment, public health and food safety and consider policy measures that might be adopted to combat any adverse effects

AFCO

On 24 September 2020, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs will hold a public remote hearing on the 'Transnational lists and the Spitzenkandidaten principle', bringing together both internal and external experts who will discuss with AFCO Members the issues of transnational lists and the lead candidates system, based on lessons to be drawn from the last European elections and following inter-institutional nominations’ cycle.

ENVI ITRE

On Tuesday 22 September 2020, from 9.00 - 12.00, ENVI and ITRE held a joint public online hearing on the critical issue of "How to secure access to COVID-19 vaccines for EU citizens."

FEMM

On 21 September 2020, JURI and FEMM organized a joint hearing on the 'Women on Boards' proposal (2012/0299 (COD)). In November 2012, the Commission published a proposal for a directive on improving the gender balance among non-executive directors of companies listed on stock exchanges, commonly known as the ‘Women on Boards’ proposal. Parliament adopted its first reading position back in November 2013. However, the proposal is still awaiting Council’s first-reading position.

On 14 July 2020, the Committee on Legal Affairs and the Committee on Constitutional Affairs held a public remote hearing on the Consequences of the Judgment of 5 May 2020 of the Second Senate of the German Constitutional Court.

CONT

On 06.07.2020, the CONT Committee held a public hearing entitled 'Follow-up of OLAF case files, fighting fraud, corruption and other irregularities in the Member States'. This public hearing focused on the follow-up of OLAF's recommendations and, in this regard, aimed to present different views from the Member States' authorities.
