ENVI report calls for decisive EU action to address shortage of medicines

On 13 and 14 July, the ENVI Committee adopted its own-initiative report on shortage of medicines, which addresses the root causes of medicines shortages and stresses the need for an increased EU response to tackle the problem of medicines shortages, which has worsened during the COVID-19 health crisis across Europe.
The Report focuses on three pillars of action: a return to EU independency in the health sector, stepping up European action to better coordinate and supplement Member States' health policies, and enhancing cooperation between Member States.
