On 10 October, the JURI Committee had a presentation and a hearing on collective redress (15.30-17.00). The event was organised in the context of the current parliamentary work on the Commission’s proposal for a directive on representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers.

The proposal was part of the "New Deal for Consumers", included in the 2018 Commission Work Programme so as to improve the effectiveness of the injunction procedure and contribute to the elimination of the consequences of the infringements of Union law which affect the collective interests of consumers.
The Members of JURI Committee had first the presentation of a study and then had the possibility to hear experts and had a discussion in the format of a hearing.
