Next AGRI meetings - 2020

In the context of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the President of the European Parliament announced a number of measures to contain the spread of epidemic and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

The Conference of Presidents has updated the EP's calendar of activities.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the European Parliament to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.
Following these decisions, the next AGRI Committee meetings will take place in Brussels via videoconference on 26-27 October (16.45-18.45 ** 09.00-11.00 and 11.30-12.30 (in camera)) and 10 November (16.45-18.45).

The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development is holding a Public Hearing on the “Fruits, vegetables and wine market situation – the impact of the EU measures to face the COVID-19 pandemic”. The hearing is intended to address the impact on the agricultural market of the measures implemented to tackle the pandemic.

The Commission will give an overview of ongoing Trade related agricultural issues to underline that the agricultural sector is an important element of EU Trade relationships with third countries and that EU plays major role on world agricultural markets being the largest agri-food exporter and importer in the world.

The EP reports on the CAP proposal 2021-2027 have been the subject of intensive debates for the last months. For all three texts (Strategic Plans; Financing, Management and Monitoring; Single Common Market Organisation), Political groups have now been called upon to elaborate their position and negotiate possible compromises, which they had the opportunity to discuss in the meeting of 12 October.
