INTA Chair welcomes adoption of FTA and IPA by Vietnam, emphasises scrutiny

INTA Chair Bernd Lange welcomed the adoption of the EU Vietnam FTA and IPA, and the ILO core convention 105 by the Vietnamese National Assembly but emphasised that the real work is only just beginning. "Implementation is key now and I will work on this together with my colleagues from the National Assembly. The free trade agreement is part of an ambitious package deal on trade and sustainable development and proof that we can change globalisation through trade policy", the Chair stated. The agreements will now have to be implemented through a process in which the EP has secured itself a continuing role during discussions with the Vietnamese prior to ratification.
