The FEMM Committee has invited all EP committees to hold for the first time European Gender Equality Week. 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This important milestone provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the achievements and future challenges for the advancement of girls’ and women’s rights and gender equality.

Nevertheless, no country in the world has fully achieved equality and empowerment for women. All over Europe and around the world, women are still facing numerous challenges. As response to this call, the TRAN committee adheres to this initiative and contributed to this battle against discrimination and inequality, inviting Ms Elisabeth Kotthaus (European Commission - DG Move - Head of unit in charge of Social Aspects, Passenger Rights & Equal Opportunities) for an exchange of views on Women in Transport.
The exchange of views took place on Thursday afternoon, 29 October 2020 in room ANTALL 6Q2 from where it was webstreamed.
