On Wednesday 10 October, from 14:30 to 18:30, the Committee on Constitutional Affairs will hold an ICM entitled "State of the debate on the future of Europe". The main aim of this ICM is to allow MEPs and MPs to discuss together in view to assess institutional and political evolutions that have followed the adoption of Parliaments resolutions of 16 February 2017, on "Improving the functioning of the European Union building on the potential of the Lisbon Treaty" (Bresso/Brok report),

and on "Possible evolutions of and adjustments to the current institutional set-up of the EU" (Verhofstadt report) and on "Budgetary capacity for the euro area" (Böge/Berès report), taking stock of the different proposals recently presented by relevant institutions and Member States and thus preparing European Parliament's priorities concerning current debate on the future of Europe.

The debate will be opened with Statements by the AFCO Chair Ms Hübner, Juliane Bogner-Strauß, on behalf of the Austrian Council Presidency, the Commissioner Věra Jourová and the two Chairs on EU affairs of the Austrian Parliament, Christian Buchmann and Reinhold Lopatka. Mr Joaquín Almunia, former Vice President of the Commission will be the invited expert to address to national MPs. The Presidents of the EESC, Luca Jahier, and of the CoR, Karl-Heinz Lambertz, will also intervene.

The AFCO Rapporteur Ramón Jáuregui and the ECON Rapporteur for an opinion Ivana Maletić will present their proposals.
