The Future of Cohesion Policy post 2020: Opportunities, Challenges and Next Steps

On Wednesday, 22 November 2017, the REGI Members held a meeting with the Members of National Parliaments on "The Future of Cohesion Policy post 2020: Opportunities, challenges and next steps". The meeting was chaired by REGI Chair Iskra Mihaylova. Her opening words was followed by two keynote speakers: Ms Corina Crețu, the Commissioner for Cohesion Policy and Mr Jaak Aab, the Estonian Minister for Public Administration.

The debate was launched by the presentations of Mr Eric Von Breska, Director, DG REGIO and the committee chairs, Ms Ivelina Vassileva and Ms Rovana Plumb, from the Bulgarian and Rumanian National Parliaments.
Mr Michael Schneider, rapporteur of the CoR opinion on "The Future of Cohesion Policy beyond 2020" presented the view of CoR on this topic. The Members of the National Parliaments had a possibility to express their views on the future of Cohesion Policy after 2020 and an open debate followed with the Members of the REGI Committee. The event was organised with the support of the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments.
