Petition on EU-subsidised COVID-19 testing for tourists travelling in or to the EU

At the meeting of 22 September 2020, the Committee heard a petition calling for the introduction of government or EU-sponsored quick COVID-19 testing for tourists travelling to any EU member state and for efficient contact-tracing procedures. The petitioner pointed out that the pandemic has heavily affected the travel and tourism industries and that travel companies have difficulties operating due to safety concerns and to inconsistencies or restrictions across Member States.
