Innovation in the sector, including digitalisation and modernisation of the fleet will be crucial factors to achieve these goals.

On 18 March, experts shared their views with Members on how to make better use of inland waterway transport in the intermodal transport system and how to increase the market share of this sector to achieve the objectives of the Union to increase the efficiency and sustainability of transport, in particular with regard the transport of freight. The hearing took place on 18 March 2019 at 15.00 in room PHS 1A2 from where it was webstreamed.
