Public Hearing on Cohesion Policy and Marginalised Communities
The Committee on Regional Development (REGI) organised a Public Hearing entitled "Cohesion Policy and Marginalised Communities". The hearing complemented the preparation of an own-initiative report on the same topic drafted by the EP rapporteur Ms Terry Reintke.
The report and the hearing aimed to strengthen the capacity of cohesion policy to tackle issues related to "marginalised communities". These communities were identified as a target group for support from cohesion policy instruments in 2010, during the implementation of the 2007-2013 programming period.
This development was confirmed as an element in the successor generation of the policy (2014-2020) in the course of the negotiations which led to the adoption of the relevant legislative instruments.
