Workshops

The Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) has requested Policy Department C to organize a workshop on 10 October 2017 in Brussels. The workshop, entitled "Eradicating gender stereotypes: Feminist perspectives on masculinity", will be held in the context of a regular FEMM Committee meeting. It will brings together experts focusing on men and masculinities and on men and gender equality.

The workshop, organised jointly by Policy Department C and the Policy Department of DG EXPO for FEMM and DEVE Committees, brought opinions of experts on the implementation of the Joint Staff Working Document on "Transforming the lives of girls and women through EU external relations", which was published by the European Commission and the EEAS on 21 September 2015.

On 21 March 2017 Policy department organised a workshop on: Grassroots of the Istanbul Convention: experiences shared on collection of data on violence against women. The Istanbul Convention contains measures to prevent violence against women and girls, protect victims and punish perpetrators. While the discussions are ongoing on the level of the Council about the scope of the EU accession to the Convention, the EP would like to address data collection on Member States’ level.

On 10 October 2016, the Policy Department organized a Workshop on Equality between women and men in the European Union in 2014-2015. The experts discussed how to achieve progress in equality, notably in the field of economics and health.

On 15 October 2015, the Policy Department organised a Workshop with two invited experts at the occasion of the "International Day for Rural women" .

Policy Department C - Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs - presented its study on the Main Causes of Female Poverty.
