The proposal for a Directive establishing harmonised requirements in the internal market on transparency of interest representation carried out on behalf of third countries covers activities conducted with the objective of influencing the development, formulation or implementation of policy or legislation, or of the public decision-making process in the EU. The Rapporteur is Mr Pablo Arias Echeverría (EPP). The Rapporteur will present a working document at the committee meeting of 3 April 2024.

The IMCO Activity Report lists all of the main legislative and non-legislative activities carried out by the committee during the 9th term. It will be presented to Members at committee meeting of 20 March.

The negotiating team at the last trilogue on the Forced Labour proposal of 4 March 2024

On 4 March 2024, Parliament and Council reached a provisional agreement on the proposal for a Regulation on Prohibiting products made with forced labour on the Union market. The co-Rapporteurs are Ms Maria-Manuel LEITÃO-MARQUES (S&D, IMCO) and Ms Samira RAFAELA (Renew, INTA). The provisional agreement was endorsed by IMCO-INTA Members on 20 March and will be submitted to the plenary of April 22 - 25 for official adoption by Parliament.

IMCO adopted a report on the proposal for a regulation combating late payment in commercial transactions. The Rapporteur is Ms Róża Thun und Hohenstein (Renew). The report will now be put to a vote at 22-25 April plenary session and will constitute Parliament’s position at first reading. The file will be followed up by the new Parliament after the European elections on 6-9 June.

On 21 February 2024, Parliament and Council reached a provisional agreement on the proposal on approval and market surveillance of non-road mobile machinery circulating on public roads and amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1020. The EP Rapporteur is Mr Tom Vandekendelaere (EPP).

Alternative and online Dispute Resolution

IMCO Members adopted two reports, one on the proposal for a directive amending Directive 2013/11/EU on alternative dispute resolution for consumer disputes and another on the proposal for a regulation discontinuing the European ODR Platform. The Rapporteur is Ms Laura Ballarín Cereza (S&D). The reports were put to the vote in plenary on 13 March 2024 and constitute Parliament's position at first reading.

IMCO Members adopted a report on the proposed regulation establishing the Union Customs Code and the European Union Customs Authority. The Rapporteur is Ms Deirdre Clune (EPP). The vote in plenary was held on 13 March 2024 and the report now constitutes Parliament’s position at first reading. The file will be followed up by the new Parliament after the European elections on 6-9 June.

IMCO adopted a report on the proposal for a regulation on Toy Safety. Ms Marion Walsmann (EPP) is the Rapporteur. Plenary voted on the report on 13 March 2024 and it now constitutes Parliament’s position at first reading. The file will be followed up by the new Parliament after the European elections on 6-9 June.
