On 29 October 2020, a hearing on Union Citizenship was jointly organised by the European Parliament (JURI, LIBE, AFCO and PETI Committees) and the European Commission. The hearing included intervention Mr. Didier Reynders, Commissioner for Justice and the participation of Ms. Emily O’Reilly, the European Ombudsman, as well as representatives from various NGOs.

Gender-specific Measures in Anti-trafficking Actions

This hearing, which took place on 26 October 2020, was organised in relation to the implementation report on Directive 2011/36/EU on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings. It represented an opportunity to hear several organisations' representatives and experts' contributions as regards the gaps in the present legislation and in the implementation of this directive and to look into which measures would be needed to reinforce its application.

The European Parliament held a public hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) entitled ‘Minority Safepack – one million signatures for diversity in Europe’, on 15 October. Having gathered the support of 1,123,422 signatories in 28 Member States, the organisers of this ECI presented their initiative in the presence of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions.
