A number of emerging trends have challenged the traditional understanding of money, such as the decline in the use of cash, the emergence of cryptocurrencies and the prospect of central bank digital currencies, says ECON Chair Irene Tinagli, who also presents a series of papers on the benefits and risks of digitalisation of money for society.
