Domestic violence is a violation of children's rights whether they are victims themselves or witnesses of violence in the family. Domestic violence has a harmful effect on the development of children. The exposure to gender-based violence denies children their right to a safe and stable home environment. Domestic violence against children has many different manifestations and can be in the form of sexual violence, physical and/or psychological violence.

FEMM Members address via the exchange of views with the five experts invited, the problem of children who are victims of gender-based violence, both as witness or as direct victims and who, in some cases, lose their mother killed by their father.

With the right information and tools, prevention is the best weapon against radicalisation, in which women are so fundamental. This, however, is often missed by legislators. This hearing will discuss how with proper collaboration, information and experience sharing, women can become agents of change and a centrepiece of the prevention strategy.

The quality of our speakers will allow us to analyse the phenomenon of violent radicalization and the role that women can play in preventing it from several perspectives. We will have the opportunity to get a first-hand input from two speakers who have had direct contact with radicals and with their mothers. The academic perspective will bring us data in order to enrich our understanding of violent radicalization. Finally, the link with the external dimension of the EU will show us how the different EU policies, internal and external, combine in order to combat extremism in the world.

One in three Europeans develops cancer during his or her lifetime, which is an immense social and economic cost for the EU. Certain forms of cancer, such as breast, uterus and cervical and other cancers affecting female reproductive tract, exist predominantly among or are exclusive to women. Although widespread, these types of cancers do not receive the necessary attention from the general public and from policy makers.

This hearing aims to look at the current situation in the prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of women's cancers and assess EU's health and anti-cancer strategies in this area. The experts whom will speak on the subject are Alessandra Campitelli, psychologist and collaborator of support organisations, Wendy Yared, Director, Association of European Cancer Leagues and Karen Benn, Deputy CEO, Europa Donna (The European Breast Cancer Coalition). The hearing will serve as input to the rapporteur Daniela Aiuto (EFDD, Italy) who will be in charge of the upcoming report on the subject.
