Crunch time for negotiations on the EU's next long-term budget

On 15 October, the Members of Parliament’s negotiating team on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and Own Resources took stock of progress in the negotiations with the German Presidency. Seven trilateral political dialogue meetings have already taken place since the end of August.

Parliament's objective is to reach a comprehensive political agreement by the end of October, notably on the envelopes of the MFF programmes, the introduction of additional new Own Resources, the role of the budgetary authority in borrowing and lending operations, and horizontal issues such as climate, biodiversity and gender mainstreaming.
