On 15 May, INTA Chair Lange, on behalf on the INTA committee, sent a letter to Trade Commissioner Hogan on the role of intellectual property rights for medicines in the context of the current pandemic. The letter asks the Commission to outline what impact the EU's existing free trade agreement and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) will have on the eventual global availability of a vaccine, notably in the context of possible compulsory licensing. It also inquires about progress in the fight against counterfeit medical good and medicines.
