Welcome to the site of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN).

China is one of the European Union's largest trading partners and increasingly active around the globe politically, economically and socially. The significance of the relationship is underlined by the comprehensive strategic partnership which has been the bilateral framework for more than a decade.

Shifting politics and economic challenges, however, mean that this important relationship cannot and does not stand still. One of the roles of the Delegation in this rapidly changing environment is to garner up-to-date expert opinion to inform our inter-parliamentary dialogues and our broader legislative work. We regularly hear from representatives of other European institutions, academic and civil society representatives from around Europe and China.

During the present term the Delegation has travelled to Beijing, Hong Kong, Chengdu and Shenyang for meetings with the National People's Congress as well as for site visits. Issues such as climate change, the green economy, technological and environmental challenges are of particular interest. As Delegation Chair I look forward to continuing to seek opportunities for meaningful exchanges and to keeping open channels of communication with China.
