On behalf of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Iran (D-IR), I want to welcome you to our web pages.

Given the important functions of the chair of the delegation for relations with Iran, I will try to invest the maximum effort in the activities linking the European Parliament and Iran's highest legislative body, the Majlis.

The European Parliament's delegation for relations with Iran, established following the 2004 European elections, was a notable achievement for European diplomacy.

The European Parliament is now responsible not simply for ensuring that links with Iran are maintained and deepened, but also for maintaining the spirit of negotiations in a way that benefits the peoples of both Iran and the EU.

Within EP-Iran relations, we would like to highlight the important issues - the fight against terrorism, the human rights dialogue, and trade and investment relations. We hope that our substantial and transparent activities will continue in the future.

Let me conclude by expressing our sincere hope that through further constructive discussions we can achieve tangible progress on the various challenges -, including the full implementation of the agreement between Iran and its international partners, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action - and start a new round of well-established cooperation.
