DAND meeting of 13 March 2024

The last meeting of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) of the ninth parliamentary term took place on 13 March 2024 in Strasbourg and included the following item of discussion:

DAND Meeting of 20 March 2023

This meeting of the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) took place on 20 March 2023 and included an Update on the political situation in Peru and an Exchange of views on the creation of an EU-LAC Digital Alliance.

DAND Meeting of 8 September 2022

The meeting of the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) on 8 September 2022 included an Exchange of views on the political situation in Colombia following the latest round of elections and an Exchange of views on the current political situation in Ecuador and preparation for the next EU-Ecuador interparliamentary meeting.

DAND meeting of 3 February 2022

This meeting of the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) took place on 3 February 2022 and included the preparation of the DAND visit to Colombia taking place from 21 to 23 February 2022 (week 8) as well as an exchange of views on the political, economic and social situation in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

DAND Meeting (in DROI) of 16 June 2021 on the situation in Colombia

Jointly with the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and in association with the EP Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (DLAT), the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) had a joint item in the meeting of the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) on 16 June 2021. The discussion focused on an Exchange of views on the situation in Colombia including the recent human rights' developments, in the presence of:

· Adriana Mejia Hernández, Vice Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Colombia

· Veronique Lorenzo, Head of Division for South America, EEAS

· José Miguel Vivanco, Executive Director, Americas Division, Human Rights Watch

DAND meeting of 30 November 2020

The meeting of the EP's Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) held remotely on 30 November 2020 focused on the political situation and state of play concerning the COVID-19 pandemic in the countries of the Andean Community (Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia).

DAND meeting (with DROI) of 28 October 2020 with Luis Gallegos Chiriboga, MFA Ecuador

H.E. Luis Gallegos Chiriboga, Minister of External Relations and Human Mobility of Ecuador, Chair of the Open-ended UN intergovernmental working group on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights, held an exchange of views remotely with MEPs at a joint meeting of the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) and the Delegation for Relations with the Andean Community (DAND) on 28 October 2020.

His official visit had to be postponed due to the resurgence of the pandemic of Covid-19 in Europe.

DAND meeting (with AFET) of 1 October 2020 with Karen Longaric Rodríguez, MFA Bolivia

EP Members exchanged views with H.E. Karen Longaric Rodríguez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia during a joint meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community (DAND) on 1 October 2020. The current political situation in Bolivia was dealt with a view to the general elections that have been set for 18 October after a second postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister also held bilateral meetings with Pilar Del Castillo, Chair of the EP's Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community and Javi López, Chair of the Eurolatinamerican Parliamentary Assembly.

DAND Constitutive meeting of 26 September 2019

The Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community was constituted in this meeting and the Chair and Vice-Presidents were elected:

  • Chair: Pilar DEL CASTILLO VERA (EPP, ES), by acclamation,
  • 1st Vice-Chair: Izaskun BILBAO BARANDIKA (RE, ES), by acclamation,
  • 2nd Vice-Chair: Benoît BITEAU (Greens/EFA, FR), by acclamation.
