14th EU-Moldova PAC meeting, 29 November 2023, Chişinău, Moldova

The 14th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee took place on 29 November 2023 in Chisinau under the co-chairmanship of MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and MP Mihai POPŞOI. Ahead of a decisive meeting on 14-15 December 2023, the EU-Moldova PAC members adopted a strong call on the European Council to decide to open accession negotiations with Moldova, endorsing the Commission's positive recommendation. During the meeting, members discussed the status of Moldova's EU accession process and future steps, the economic and geopolitical situation in the country as well as the justice reform that will be key in the remaining conditions to fulfill in the coming weeks and months.

13th EU-Moldova PAC meeting, 23 March 2023, Brussels

On 23 March 2023, the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee held its 13th meeting in Brussels, under the co-chairmanship of MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and MP Mihai POPŞOI. The meeting addressed Moldova's EU integration and the justice reform, as well as the country's geopolitical situation. The meeting concluded on the unanimous adoption of a Statement and Recommendations calling the EU institutions to start accession negotiations, by the end of 2023, and upon completion of the Commission's nine recommendations and urges to gradually integrate Moldova into both the single market.


12th EU-Moldova PAC meeting, 1-2 November 2022, Chişinău

On 1st and 2nd November, the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee held its 12th meeting in Chisinau, Moldova, under the co-chairmanship of MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and MP Mihai POPŞOI. The meeting addressed Moldova's EU candidate status that was granted by the European Council on 23 June 2022. Participants also discussed the pressing issue of Moldova's energy security and the ongoing justice reform. The meeting concluded on the adoption of a Statement and recommendations calling the EU institutions to start negotiations for accession as soon as possible after Moldova fulfills the nine recommendations issued by the Commission's Opinion and communicate any additional conditions.

11th EU-Moldova PAC 6-7 April 2022, Strasbourg

On 6-7 April 2022, the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) held its 11th meeting. The PAC sent a strong signal of solidarity and support to the Republic of Moldova as the country has been most affected by Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine. The PAC adopted a statement and recommendations which commends the great solidarity shown by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and its authorities towards the refugees from Ukraine. It welcomes Moldova's EU membership application and called on the EU institutions to grant the country EU candidate status, in line with Article 49 TEU and 'on the basis of merit'. It also calls on the country to be integrated into the EU single market in the meantime. It recalls its support for a comprehensive, peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, notwithstanding the issues in the 5+2 negotiation format.


10th EU-Moldova PAC, 2 December 2021, Chişinău

The EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) held its tenth meeting in Chişinău on 2 December 2021. The meeting was co-chaired by MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and MP Mihai POPŞOI. Participants reviewed the state-of-play of EU-Moldova relations, progress and challenges in the implementation of the Association Agreement including the DCFTA, the epidemiological situation in Moldova, EU financial and technical support for post Covid-19 recovery, the latest evolutions on the energy market, the consolidation of democracy and the rule of law, and progress on the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. The meeting concluded on the adoption of a Joint Statement by the Co-Chairs.

9th EU-Moldova PAC, 22 March 2021, via Interactio

On 22 March, the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) held its 9th meeting. Due to the persistent pandemic conditions, the PAC had to meet remotely / online for the second time, although the Members expressed its wish that the next meeting is organised in Chisinau in physical presence. The 9th PAC meeting was chaired jointly by MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and Moldovan MP Ruxanda GLAVAN. The meeting agenda covered three main topics: The health situation in Moldova and the economic recovery; The implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, a review of the ongoing reform and of the state of play of the EU macro-financial support; And, finally, an exchange of views on political developments in the Republic of Moldova. 8th EU-Moldova PAC, 8 October 2020, via Interactio

The 8th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) was held on 8 October 2020. The meeting had to be organised online (via Interactio) due to the COVID-19 mobility restrictions. The PAC meeting was co-chaired by MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and Moldovan MP Monica BABUC. The PAC meeting reviewed the state of the EU-Moldova relations and, particularly, the EU support to Moldova related to the pandemic crisis, the EU macro-financial assistance packages and the overall implementation of the EU-Moldova Association. The European External Action Service and the European Commission provided inputs to the debates. A Statement with Recommendations was adopted, see below:

7th EU-Moldova PAC, 18-19 December 2019, Strasbourg

The EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) held its seventh meeting in Strasbourg on 18-19 December 2019. It was co-chaired by MEP Siegfried MUREŞAN and Moldovan MP Mihail POPŞOI. The PAC meeting reviewed, with contributions of the EEAS, the European Commission and the EESC the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the state of the overall bilateral relations. The following final statement and recommendations were adopted.
