European Parliament President to attend G7 Speakers’ Conference 

 

European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, along with parliamentary speakers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, will attend the fifteenth G7 Speakers’ Meeting being held in Rome this week. The conference will focus on international cooperation in preventing and fighting terrorism, the role of parliaments in combatting inequalities and in building inclusive societies, and on the energy transition for sustainable development.

European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, along with parliamentary speakers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, will attend the fifteenth G7 Speakers’ Meeting being held in Rome this week.

The conference will focus on international cooperation in preventing and fighting terrorism, the role of parliaments in combatting inequalities and in building inclusive societies, and on the energy transition for sustainable development.

On Friday morning, President Tajani will deliver a speech detailing the steps taken by the European Parliament on security and counter-terrorism.

President Tajani stated:

“Recent terrorist attacks have increased calls for greater security by European citizens. The European Parliament has constituted a special committee on anti-terrorism that will work on reinforcing tools available in order to give our citizens more security through improved cooperation and exchange of information among law enforcement and judicial authorities in the EU.”

President Tajani will also hold bilateral meetings with the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives and the President of the French National Assembly.
