. ‒ The ECR Group voted against the joint resolution on the Commission Work Programme 2018. Following intense and fruitful negotiations with the EPP and ALDE Groups, the ECR was pleased jointly to submit a resolution. This resolution was a compromise and therefore, of course, not a perfect reflection of ECR positions on the many topics included. Nonetheless, it was a historic achievement as it offered a centre-right and realistic view on EU cooperation.
However, during the plenary vote a number of issues were added to the text that were problematic for the ECR: in particular, a highly controversial socialist amendment on the relocation of asylum seekers and the facilitation of access to the labour market for migrants and refugees. Unfortunately, following the adoption of this amendment, the ECR Group had to withdraw its support for the joint resolution.

Members can submit a specific number of questions to the President of the European Council, the Council, the Commission and the Vice-President of the Commission/High Representative of the Union, for written answer. Rule 138, Annex III
