The Committee on Petitions has been working intensively on several petitions ( 0760/2007, 2207/2013, 1107/2011 and 0024/2012) on the ILVA steel plant, ENI refinery and new gas pipeline located in the Taranto region. The area is suffering from considerable, long-standing social problems related to unemployment and from the consequences of the non-compliance with the European environmental and health legislation.
