Zachování rybolovných zdrojů

Fakta a čísla o EU 01-09-2017

This study presents an overview of Blue Growth emerging industries and investigates the linkages with the traditional maritime activity of fisheries with emphasis on small-scale fisheries. Positive synergies are investigated as well as possible opportunities (and threats) that Blue Growth can or should offer to small-scale fisheries and coastal communities in the context of economic growth, employment and innovation.

This briefing, provided to the European Parliament in preparation for the UN Ocean Conference in New York in June 2017 takes into account discussions and developments until March 2017. The revised Common Market Organisation (CMO) is a great opportunity for small-scale fisheries (SSF) producers to better access the market and to compete successfully with imported fishery products. The aim of intervention is to give the consumer the opportunity to buy a fresh, safe, and environmentally-friendly product, and to guarantee an acceptable income to local SSF fishers.

Bluefin tuna is one of the most important fish species in terms of value and source of employment in the EU. Eastern Bluefin Tuna trap set (“Almadraba”) harvesting is currently only practiced in Italy, Morocco, Portugal and Spain, though such fishing method was widely used throughout the Mediterranean Sea, and is of socio-economic and cultural relevance. Almadraba are more labour-intensive than any other fishing method and their production is increasingly appreciated by a high-end consumer market ...

Discarding was considered by the European Commission a serious problem in European fisheries and one which must be addressed as a high priority. The aim of the present study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the discard problem on small-scale fisheries in Europe in order to put forward recommendations and policy-relevant advice for decision-makers.

Commercial inland fisheries are small-scale, labour intensive, traditional fisheries mostly using passive gear. They produce high value products of local importance. Inland fisheries will not be heavily influenced by the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy as they are mainly managed nationally. Diadromous species may benefit from the reforms as long as they are properly implemented. The new European Maritime and Fisheries Fund has greater potential to provide increased support to inland fisheries ...

The reform of the EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) is being negotiated by the European Parliament and the Council. Some proposals aim at a differentiated approach for small-scale fisheries (SSF), but the characterisation of "small-scale" is far from uniform in view of the diversity of the EU fishing fleet and its activities.

This document aims to provide accurate and structured information to the EP Fisheries Committee about: the importance of small inshore fishing; and the specific social, economic and environmental problems of the sector in Member States. The discussion is structured so that the final conclusions and recommendations are based on an inventory reflecting the state of affairs in each Member State and an exposition of the key issues of small inshore fisheries at the Community level, with specific references ...
