Asie je největší a nejlidnatější kontinent na světě a pro EU je z geostrategického hlediska velmi významná. EU navazuje se zeměmi jižní Asie užší vazby. Indie je nyní jejím strategickým partnerem. V tomto regionu se EU obává bezpečnostních problémů, jako jsou kašmírský konflikt a situace v Afghánistánu. EU je silným ekonomickým aktérem a hlavním poskytovatelem rozvojové pomoci na podporu budování institucí, demokracie, řádné správy a lidských práv.
