Women and Enlargement

Study 16-08-2004

This study considers the position of women in the new EU countries and in candidate countries in various areas: demography, education, employment, health, politics, childcare. The study shows that the transformation of the societies of Eastern and Central Europe has lead to profound changes in the role of women.

The purpose of this study is to develop a strategy on the contribution that energy cooperation could make to the development of the Baltic region (economic, technical and scientific restructuring of the region, options for cross-border cooperation, assistance with improving its environmental situation).

This study considers what contribution 'newer biological life sciences' (including medical technology, biotechnology and molecular biology) can make to easing the environmental burden of the Baltic area (the St. Petersburg region and the Baltic States) in the widest sense.
