La Posición Común de la UE sobre exportación de armas es el único acuerdo jurídicamente vinculante de carácter regional relativo a la exportación de armas convencionales. Aunque gracias a la Posición Común hay un mayor intercambio de información y transparencia en cuanto a las exportaciones de armas de los Estados miembros, queda margen para una mayor convergencia de las políticas nacionales de exportación de armas y para una aplicación más estricta de los criterios que describe el documento.
